Amazon sells lots good whiskey stone sets and they do deliver fast. Whiskey stones are sold in lots of places, from super markets to gift shops and of course you’ll run into them all over the web. Scottish farmers used to do the same, even in modern times. Whether it was a stone from riverbanks or from a spring, it was cool coming from the water from nature. One thing we can be sure of – they cooled down their drinks with actual rocks. But in one of Mark’s blog post, he comes up with an alternative, saying that it’s not impossible that the Vikings brought the whisky distillation craftsmanship to Scotland. The traditional story is that Irish missionaries brought whisky distillation to Scotland. Mark Reynier, the former CEO of Bruichladdich distillery, posted an article about the origins of “Water of Life”. There’s even been suggestions that Vikings might have made whisky before the Irish and Scots. The Vikings used to cool their alcoholic beverages with stones from the shores. There’s lots of history behind cooling your drink with rocks. Here’s a test about the lowering of the drink temperature with whisky stones: Here you’ll find other sets of whisky stones from Amazon – the premium versions with nice rounded edges, so that the stones don’t harm your glassware. The smoke aromas pretty quickly made the whisky stones lose their industrial feel. By heavy use I mean 3 to 5 pours, with a dash of heavily peated whisky. First the whisky rocks gave the drink a small dose of industrial smell, but fortunately those aromas faded away over heavy use. I just hadn’t figured out a better way to enjoy the bad ones.Īlong came my spouse, with her perfect gift for a whisky fanatic. In times like that, ice cubes usually were my choice to make the whisky more enjoyable. Then you’ll probably end up with a bottle of some decent stuff, or if you’re having bad luck, the whisky is very poor. I just happen to love whisky that much that sometimes I have to go with a small budget. The kind of whisky made for casual consumption, cheap blends or bourbons, that are not necessarily for whisky enthusiasts. I used to drink lots of whisky with ice included. The cooling effect does reduce powerful aromas but then again, I am willing to take that hit if I’m drinking a poor whisky with no special aromas. Scotch on the rocks felt much better, because there was no melting ice diluting the whisky. Whiskey stones (with an e), like the ones by Sagaform were called, really made a difference on my whisky tasting. I got these for Father’s Day – Jura Superstition 0,2 liter and some whiskey stones. In order to get animation and interactions across, it is important to be able to visualize them. “I have the app designed, but I would like to create or finesse complex animations or interactions.” Tools we use during this stage at ArcTouch: InVision, Flinto, Xcode, Sketch 4. You’ll realize when standard transitions aren’t going to be enough, and you might want to try some more interesting transitions between screens, or want to start playing around with user interactions. High-fidelity app prototypes look and feel like native apps. At this point you might be trying to fine-tune the transitions and animations to add to this experience. Does it make you relaxed, happy, motivated? We like to ensure that design meets the needs we identify in our product planning workshops. Once you have some visuals, you can sense how this app is actually going to feel to use. “I already started visual screen design.” Tools we use during this stage at ArcTouch: InVision, Sketch 3. If the navigation or screenflow seems confusing, boring, or cumbersome, then it’s still early enough in the project to explore alternatives. You’ll be able to visualize the flow of your app at a high level. Fancy screen transitions are less important at this stage it is more important to see how easy things are and if the app is intuitive to navigate, so full-screen page transitions (slide left/right/up/down, pop, and fade) work well. You should make sure there aren’t too many steps to do those basic tasks you set up in your user flows. You can make a low fidelity click-through prototype to get a sense of how a user might navigate through your app. “I have put together some wireframes of page layouts.”Īt this point, you actually have the content segmented into screens. Tools we use during this stage at ArcTouch: whiteboard, Post-its®, pen and pencil, Sketch (from Bohemian Coding) 2. The prototypes to come will be based on these user flows: When creating these flows, you start laying out the foundation, defining the screens needed in your app, as well as important actions needed on these screens. Think from the user’s perspective of some common tasks they will want to accomplish in your app, and lay out the basic flows they will go through. Instead, it is important to start laying out your user flows. “Right now I am just organizing content and creating the app feature set.”Īt this stage, you have nothing visual to prototype. Ask yourself, “Where am I in the design process?” By analyzing which design stage you are in, and what you want out of your app prototype, you can create a prototype with low or high fidelity to match your needs.Īsk yourself, “Where am I in the design process?” It is best to prototype whenever you can, however projects are usually restricted by time constraints or budget. It is easy to say you want to prototype your mobile app, but it can be daunting to know how to get started. What will happen when I scroll down this page or tap this button? Will there be an animation when I earn a badge, or complete a level? This additional finesse is what sets great apps apart from the rest. This is near impossible to demonstrate with a static image of a screen. Once you have a basic prototype of your app design, you can begin to think of ways to make the experience even more magical. What if I tap on this button after I have selected this item?.Does it make more sense for this screen to slide in from the right, or slide up from the bottom?.A good prototype can bring your designs to life so that you can work on solving interaction problems, and answering questions to edge cases like: Even the act of creating an app prototype is beneficial. App prototyping solves this problem.Īpp prototyping allows you to get feedback on your design earlier, so that the first version the public sees is more polished.īringing your designs to life with your app prototypeĪpp prototyping allows you to get feedback on your design earlier, so that the first version the public sees is more polished. At that point, you probably won’t be able to make drastic alterations without causing big delays to the project. However, you typically can’t get this rewarding experience until the app is ready to submit to the app store. Only then will you really know if your app is intuitive, enjoyable and delivers the user experience you envisioned. You’ll never be able to fully imagine an app until it is on your phone and you can tap, swipe and interact with the screens. Why would designing an app be any different? If you want to be successful, you should test the waters with your app before you make it live. Remember the last time you tried something new? Chances are it took you at least two tries to get it right. App prototyping is a proven technique that ArcTouch uses during our design process to help make lovable apps. But I find the entirety of One World’s official complaint hilarious. Prior to the launch of One World and its Water Lantern Festival events, the term “Water Lantern Festival” meant nothing to people.īecause I work in the financial sector, I regularly look at documents that would be extremely boring to anyone of moderate intelligence who actually values their time, so maybe my filters are screwed up. When One World first approached venues about the type of events it wanted to host, venues did not immediately understand the concept of floating lantern festivals because no such event existed at the time within the continental United States. What fascinates me is the way in which One World’s legal complaint describes the specific and unique qualities of the calculatedly generic water lantern festivals they began, in either 2017 or 2018 (it’s a little bit unclear), trying to talk cities into allowing them to host: (They also own YOLO Enterprises, LLC, almost certainly because Prestige Unlimited was already taken.) They are also claiming that one of their competitors, 1000 Lights, LLC, is run by a former One World employee ( what?) who stole not only their idea for putting on generic water lantern festivals ( really?) but, according to the claim, also some of their clients ( gasp!). One World Lantern Festival, LLC, an entity started by gentlemen by the name of Michael Schaefer and David Knight, runs Water Lantern Festival and is claiming to be the inventors of water lantern festivals in toto. What I learned is that some guys in Utah are instituting legal action against some other guys in Utah about who owns what intellectual property regarding the invention of lantern festivals. I know this because I was so badly shaken by the experience that as soon as I got home and tossed the bucket of ice cream at my ungrateful family members who had no idea what a harrowing experience I had just endured, I ran immediately to the computer and researched like a madman. It’s not Water Lantern Festival-it’s just a water lantern festival. Was I so checked out, my citizenship so lazy, that I didn’t even know about Portland’s esteemed Water Lantern Festival? My thought was stupid.) As I made my way out of the park and toward the store where I was supposed to procure a bucket of ice cream for my mewling family, I found myself walking against the traffic of people who continued to file into the park. Was it possible that through some strange, multiple-decades-long sequence of events, I had never turned to a certain newspaper page, had never clicked the right web links, and had never overheard a conversation about the yearly lantern festival? The more I thought about this, the more I began to talk myself into the idea that this was not just possible, but in fact quite likely. I am not the most assiduous reader of the city’s newspapers (like many mid-tier cities, Portland no longer has a daily print paper), and I began to wonder if Portland did indeed have a lantern festival, but I had somehow never heard about or noticed it. Because I am an adult of great competence, however, I did what I usually do when confronted with something I don’t understand: I became disoriented and frightened. A banner read “Water Lantern Festival,” but I had no memory of lantern festivals in Portland. I could think of no particular holidays in early June. No matter where or how I looked, though, I could not discern just what the Officially Sanctioned Community Event was. I knew it was officially sanctioned because evident in great quantity were tents and banners, wristbands and branded knapsacks, the sound of amplified music, and food trucks. I assumed there would be the usual clutches of homeless people, a handful of folks smoking joints while watching their friends try to juggle exotic juggling implements the names of which I do not know, and of course people in the Dogs May Run Free and Terrorize Each Other Here area smiling in that determined, nervous way dog park folks smile, since they must be prepared for a dog- or human- or dogs-and-humans fight at any moment.īut that is not what I found at all! What I found instead was a park semi-full of people, all of them either already at, or walking rapidly toward, some kind of Officially Sanctioned Community Event. When I stepped into Laurelhurst Park in Portland, Oregon, last Saturday evening, I expected to find the park as lovely and quiet as it usually is at the end of the day. My favorite feature is the anti-collision sensor which aids landing and stops mid-air crashes into inanimate objects and other drones. Other drone X Pro specifications include three flight modes, a 120-degree wide-angle lens, and LED lighting for nighttime use. It definitely isn’t inside an indoor or back-garden toy for smaller children. For instance, you get 12km, though that’s more than enough to have fun outside. The Drone X Pro distance is short compared to some of the more expensive models out there. There is also a Drone X Pro GPS system so you can be sure it never flies off course. This simply means it remembers which side was the front of the drone during take-off so neither it nor you get confused by its direction. Of course, the main controls are on the control transmitter too, including: The app also supports speech recognition, though other than the novelty it’s easy to use the controls. For example, there’s an easy flip button if the camera viewing is upside down. It has simple Go and Return flight buttons, a beginner’s guide, and lots of intuitive settings. My own tests on Android found it to be easy to navigate. However, judging by Drone X Pro reviews, very few people have even tested the app on iPhone. It has an acceptable 3.5/5 review on Google Play but its Apple App store rating is not the best at 1.9. It helps you guide the drone and playback footage. A lot of the time, especially when high up, images can appear blurry and unclear.Īs we can see from the camera, the app is an important part of the Drone X Pro features. On the other hand, it’s not all excellent results. Replay mode lets you rewatch your Drone X pro footage whenever you desire. Now you can view your flight and film it in real-time! To aid both control and live video recording, simply install the app and slot the phone into the control transmitter. However, onboard image stabilization still puts it ahead of similarly priced drones. The only downside is these are blurrier than standard shots. In addition, you can take 360-degree panoramic shots. The stills are taken at 12MP which is comparable to any good smartphone. They give an automated professional result, even if like me you have no idea what you’re doing. What really sells it is its preset camera modes like Boomerang and Asteroid. Capturing at 60fps with a wide-angle lens is okay for high in the sky shots. The camera itself records in 720p, which falls short of full 1080p HD or even higher 2/4K resolutions out there However, for its price and performance it does a good job. You can do just that with the in-built camera and Drone X Pro camera app. It’s one thing to have fun flying a drone, it’s another to be able to take photos and record glorious flight footage. Even a sudden change in wind direction can send it off route. For its size it’s actually quite resilient, withstanding up to a wind level of seven but it’s still not good enough for the experts. The Drone X Pro weight is less than 1lb, which makes it great for carrying but does mean the strongest winds can cause some wobble. You can fold these and the rest of the drone down for easier storage and portability. It is small in stature, measuring roughly 12.5 x 7.5 x 5cm with its propellers extended for flight. Here are the exciting things I found: Drone X Pro Dimensions All of this makes it our top pick for beginners that want enough options to make drones a serious hobby! Its footage can go up to a cool 720p and you can control your flight by combining a beginner-friendly control pad with your smartphone for even more features. With four sets of propellers, an HD camera, and a built-in collision sensor, the Drone X Pro foldable quadcopter has a lot going for it. Usually commercial software or games are produced for sale or to serve a commercial purpose. Even though, most trial software products are only time-limited some also have feature limitations. Then all i had to do is connect both my san disk and my portable hard drive, and I simply dragged and dropped the folders, about 15-20 folders at a time. Then I stored all those (140 of them) folders on a portable hard drive. Lyrics can be searched for and integrated into your music library too. MetaTOGGer can tag OGG, FLAC, Speex, WMA, and MP3 music files either manually or automatically using online databases. I have used a Windows computer with my SanDisk Sport Plus Player for decades. It has a physical attack of 220, allowing it to deal massive damage that can also greatly stagger foes. However, when one reaches this point, the Dragonslayer Greatarrows that it fires are the equivalent of throwing an entire spear at adversaries from a range of 50. Using it will require the player to invest heavily in Strength and Dexterity, as it needs 20 points in each stat to be wielded properly. Named for its capability to fell mighty, ancient foes, the Dragonslayer Greatbow is accordingly powerful. The process will cost 5,000 souls, but the product is worth the price unless one has other plans for Aldrich's dark soul. Players desiring this Longbow will need to defeat Aldrich, Devourer of Gods, and then transpose their soul, the Soul of Aldrich. It is ideal for such playstyles because its Range stat of 50 has a fair bit more reach than most sorceries, allowing magic users to defeat foes from even safer distances. With that being said, it requires 10 Intelligence to wield and eventually gets B-tier scaling when maxed out, meaning that it is more ideal for a sorcery build than one favoring Dexterity or Strength. The Darkmoon Longbow stands out as one of those capable of the most damage, as it possesses both a physical attack of 66 and a Magic attack stat of 80 when fully upgraded to +5. Longbows are a bit slower than their Shortbow counterparts, though, accordingly, offer more range. The Dragonrider Bow is on a shriveled corpse near the ledge next to a couple of ladders leading up.ħ Strength, 16 Dexterity, 10 Intelligence This Bow can be found in the Smouldering Lake area near where the giant ballista can be found high up above the lake proper. Furthermore, its scaling maxes out at D-tier for both Strength and Dexterity, making it only useful for Quality builds that can stand to be weighed down a bit. This power comes at a cost, however, as its Range stat is a middling 50 and is the heaviest normal Bow in the game. With 200 physical attack at the maximum upgrade level of +5, the Dragonrider Bow packs the most punch out of all the regular Bows. In one of the later boss fights in that game, the Bearer of the Curse will have to fight two Dragonriders: one with a polearm and another with one of these devastating ranged armaments. This Bow is a reference to the Dark Souls 2 boss who fans of the franchise are likely familiar with. Improved performance.
